Loss of sound to my surround system when switching from tv speakers to audio speakers

Hi Sean, tv model  no KDL-32HX753  Blu-ray Disc / DVD RECEIVER. MODEL NO HBD- E370.

when using DVD player all works perfectly tv picture and 5.1 surround sound works spot on .

only when watching sky tv ( that’s the only way we can watch tv no aerial signal we’re we live)

and I try to switch on to audio surround speakers that they do not work , everything was working all ok just stopped working for no reason,I’ve checked all cables/connections tried 

different HDMI cables ,I’ve tried everything I no how to but to no avail, not sure what do next ?

If you disconnect the Sky box, does the same thing happen?

The problem with disconnecting the sky box is that I have no way of testing the tv as we do not/ can not get a tv signal ( no aerial ) where we live ! But every thing works all ok other than just no surround sound when switching on the audio ! A pop up comes on to the tv to say AUDIO SYSTEM ACTIVE. And on the surround system front panel  HD  HDMI comes on to show the out put is on . On checking through the tv HDMI inputs go to sound   ( tv / audio speakers) change to Audio speakers from tv speakers the same thing happens no sound at all, switch back to tv speakers , just tv speakers again. As I have said earlier blog if I press play button to play dvd every thing works ok tv picture with the surround sound system works!!!!

i have tried resetting both tv and surround sound system, and tried again switching tv speakers to audio speakers, no audio surround, switch back to tv speakers which come back on, I’ve tried disconnecting optical lead only with just HDMI connection, and vis versa, still no audio from the surround sound system ! What I can not get my head round is when all leads connected it puts a pop screen on the tv to say ( AUDIO SYSTEM ACTIVATED) ??? But no sound.

Do you have a different TV or sound system to test in order to know what's causing the issue?

Hi The_Black_Rose.

unfortunately I haven’t got a TV  that has got enough HDMI sockets to test the system with. It’s only got one on the TVs  I have, so I’m kind of stuck really, as that was my thinking as well, my next thought is to try connecting the system via the phono sockets which I hope I’ve got ! If this works? it must be something to do with the HDMI, but that doesn’t show which product is at fault. I’ll get back to you once I have tried it.
