Hi all
I really hope someone can help here.
I've just taken the plunge and bought this 4k player.
It's connected via 4k HDMI direct to my Sony 4k TV.
Audio is connected via 4k HDMI from HDMI2 direct to Sony STR2400 amp.
I bought 4k The Crow (1994 B Lee) to test the player etc, and I don't know if I've set something up wrongly but the audio on the film is terrible. It's DTS HD MA, but the sound is just not right - the soundtrack (ie the music) is barely audible, there's very little in the way of surround, and scenes with lots of sound effects, such as the scene where he's involved in a shootout in the club towards the end of the film the whole mix just sounds off and really uninvolving. There are also a couple of scenes where a band is playing in the club and the music is barely audible, all you can really hear is the singer very prominently?
For comparison I've played my old standard bluray of the film on the 800M2 and the sound is absolutely fine. I've also tried the German Dolby Digital mix on the 4k disc and the sound again is fine (if you want to watch in German!).
I've tried all the audio settings on the player and the amp and it makes no difference when playing the DTS HD MA soundtrack.
The 800M2 shows that DTS HD MA is being output.
My amp is old but plays DTS HD, and when playing the DTS HD MA it shows on the amp as DTS HD MA so am I doing something wrong as the sound is terrible? The only thing I can think of, not being very technically minded, is that the amp is too old to play it, but then why would it show as playing DTS HD MA if it wasn't playing it properly?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
