My apps icon has disappeared from my home screen, I have rebooted in safe mode and run the new software update but still no joy, can anyone suggest a solution please?
P.S The apps are still installed and I have checked all other folders on the homescreen..

Long-press on any empty space in your homescreen -> Settings -> disable "Hide Apps icon" (On newer Xperia Home versions, the setting is renamed to "Enable swipe up")
Hi @Craig75,
I'm sorry to hear this.
It sounds like you home screen has been completely reset. When did this happen? Have you tried to download a different launcher to your device?
I'm afraid that if you don't have a backup of your home screens layout you will need to manually recreate it. I'm sorry for the inconvenience this may cause.
Same problem here. The apps icon is gone and now I can't access any apps that are not on my screens. Some newly installed apps are not accessible at all.
Please tell me I am missing something obvious here. Or is this phone nearly bricked by one unfortunate finger sweep?

Thank you, Quester.
I did not find the line you mentioned, but no matter: while looking for it I have accidentally found the solution for my case.
For the record : my Dutch-localized version has the option of 'all apps available via scroll - up' . That solved it for me.
It seems to me that the apps icon disappears when this option gets selected. The catch is - the icon does not return when that option is later disabled again. May be a bug
Thank you @Quester. Found your post while looking for the solution for the same problem. Worked well.
The above solutions helped.
Long press empty space
Settings
Disable "Enable Swipe Up"
In the process I discovered that in this mode swiping up shows the icons, I quite like this new UX of swiping up for all icons, I think I will keep it.
