Power and fuzzy screen issue

Yesterday using my phone fine. Received a call fine Went back to work and then when i took my phone out the screen went a funny colour and switched off and i cannot get it to work now. I have managed to get it loaded once but then the Sony screen loaded went fuzzy and off again. Any help please??? i have photos of my 11 month old i do not want to lose. When i try to hook it up to a laptop it makes a noise like it is connecting but then disconnects ARGH

I've seen this happened before, by any chance the photos were saved on a SD card? 

This is what worked for me

let the phone cool off > charge > let it cool down again > then try to turn it on in >>> safe mode see if that makes any difference.

i am not very techy so no SD card. How to do you start in safe mode when you turn it on, the Sony screen loads then goes fuzzy into white noice like a tv and then switches off?
