Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.
I would suggest that you first of all try to clear data for media storage under settings > apps> all > clear data. Restart your phone and try again.
If the behavior still persists, I would suggest that you try to boot your phone into safe mode to see if the problem may be related to any 3rd party app that you have installed in your phone:

Thank you for replying.
It seems that I am not able to follow your steps....
Once I click on Power Button, the window pops up..
now you had mentioned to follow "Now tap and hold the Power off option until you see this screen."
I had tried many times but SAFE Mode window is not appearing.
Kindly advice.

Arshi

You can try to power off your phone. Wait a few seconds and start it again, once it have vibrate and beginning to boot, press and hold the volume down button and keep it pressed until the phone is started. This should enable safe mode.

Dear Alexander,
Thank you for you prompt response.
Finally I was able to start the device in SAFE mode.....but the message is still appearing on the screen and preventing me to do any work.
The message is "Unfortunately, the process android.process.media has stopped."
Also I tried to connect through PC Companion to back up the data but the device is not getting detected.
Please advice.

Arshi

If clearing data as suggested above doesn't help I suggest that you repair the phone software using PC Companion:
http://www.sonymobile.com/update
In PC Companion, press start on Support Zone > Start on Update the phone/tablet software > Press the blue link that says "Repair phone/tablet".
Before repairing the software in your device you may want to backup your information first. Check out this topic for more information on how to:
