UNABLE TO INSTALL OR START PHONE SOFTWARE UPDATE COMPONENTS

My ARC is running with 2.3.4 gingerbread version 4.0.1.A.0.283 i connected my phone to Sony Ericsson PC companion ... it says that new software update 4.0.2.A.0.42 is available . I aceepted the update and i selected continue option then a window opened saying UNABLE TO INSTALL OR START PHONE SOFTWARE UPDATE COMPONENTS. 😞 what to do? m facing dis problem coz ma phone lost its orginal rooting bcoz of using flash tool.... i want to get back ma phone as it is when i unboxed it....it is told dat my warranty wil be lost? help me out in this ASAP plzz....

In regards to this issue, please try the following to resolve the issue,

1. Close PC Companion

2. Install java from http://www.java.com/winoffline_installer

3. Start PC Companion again and try to do the SW Update of the phone.

Hey dude I tried this but it is asking to sign up first...I did but it says that we will activate ua account when SE approves it....so what shud I do...

Did you download the Update Service and attempt it with that software as well?
