OK, so this is really getting me mad now. I've been trying to update the phone for 2 days now but PC C is terrible.
So I change the phone from MPC mode to MSC mode...so that I can put it into MPC mode...Disconnect the SD card...so I can connect the SD card..what the heck PC C needs me to set the wrong settings then change back to the right settings I don't know.
So anyway, I jump through all the hoops of the PC Comp screens to update the phone just to get a message on the Finish saying "PC Companion was not able to connect to the phone. Please disconnect and connect again.".
I have the factory installed Mcafee VirusScan on and I have a 16GB SD Card. Is the problem caused because the PC C timeout settings don't take into account cards larger than the 2GB one installed? (I'm assuming the update gets downloaded to the SD Card)?
...like SK17i's design doesn't take into account the electrostatic noise next to the mic...and the SK15 doesn't take into account the heat of the components under the touch buttons.
Gee, I was so pumped up about my Mini Pro when I first got it (yes, I got it even though SE didn't update my X10 Mini Pro to 2.2), but Sony Ericsson sure are trying to dampen my enthusiasm in every way they can.

You may want to try the Update Service application itself instead of PC Companion given the situation:
http://dl-www.sonyericsson.com/cws/download/1/110/61/1317636927/Update_Service_Setup-2.11.10.7.exe
(Don’t worry that it for another model, the software will work regardless.)

That worked first time - alot less stressful! Thanks Sam
