We have just purchased the KDL-32WD603 Sony TV and in general are very pleased with the product. However, when we are recording one channel, we have been experiencing problems. The first time we were unable to change channel to watch a different channel (something we had been told was possible) and then the second time the TV was recording, the TV would not even display the channel being recorded, it was just a blank screen.
We we have read that possible software settings may assist with watching one channel whilst recording another, but having just checked the specification of the TV we note it is only a single tuner.
Can a different USB recording device assist with this problem?
As you already notice your TV has only one DVBT tuner so it cannot in any possible way tune another channel while busy recording something. This feature is available only on Sony 4K models with double DVBT tuner.
Don't know what you mean by a "different USB recording device", but the only way round is to have a separatePVR device connected via HDMI to the TV: in this case you can record on the PVR whatever you want (some of them have also 2 tuner so you can record 2 programmes at the same time) and watch a different channel on your TV tuner (or the opposite, recording on tv and watching a different channel on the PVR via HDMI)
Hi rooobb
@MAlice87 might be able to watch same mux(frequency) channels.Usually there are more than one at each frequency
The strange thing is the blank screen for the recorded channel, which is surely an issue.
