Kdl46ex653 not updating.

Sony kdl46ex653 is displaying update message. When I select update now, the tv turns off and back on again instantly without updating and then he same message to update re- appears.  Can anything be done to rectify this problem?

Have you checked which version of firmware you have installed:

Turn on your TV and press the  HOME button on the remote to display the Home Menu

Navigate to  Product Support category and press  OK.

Navigate to System Information and press  OK.

On the TV screen, the firmware version number should appear like this: SOFTWARE VERSION PKG1.402 - if the version number is PKG1.402 or higher you already have the most recent firmware.

You could try downloading & installing the firmware manually - use the following link for How to download & install the Firmware update

you could try a factory re set and see if it clears any glitches in the system then try the update process again if you dont have the latest installed.
