Should i be worried, apparently complaints are comming in already for this new tv on dark verticle lines either side of the screen!, i have seen this before on the LG i had that went back for a full refund as it was the area where the ribbon cable joins at the screen for the backlight (could be seen from the front) i had 3 of them and the engineer said its not right, heres the pics of the Sony.

Edited links to work properly (originally double http)
what a rooler coaster this is turning into. as it is sounding more and more like a lucky dip, if the glue has dried well on the set you get, you get a perfect one. or more likley as the build process is obviously flawed you get one with who knows how many glu lines around the display.
I am going to give them 1 chance at supplying a £3000 tv that can display a solid blue screen, without any black lines, which is hardly asking for much is it. if it can not manage that basic display then its time for a refund, before they start on the you have had it too long excusses.
guys
i have asked sony if i need to pack up the monolith stand, for when mine is collected tomorrow - but had no answer. can one of you tell me, does the stand need to go back too?
also
can we not keep a check on which serial numbers have been rejected by us, just to see if all they are doing is re-cycling them. mine is No.2 - so if you are happy with a glue line only halfway down the left hand side, ask them to send you No.2
i take it all the serial number start 3600?
mine is 778, if you like a faint line all down the rigth side then ask for 778 when it goes back.
.....if we get enough detail we could identify the sets by their stripe patterns....same technique those tv wildlife folks use on tigers
787... faint line on the right side when you look from the front but left side of the tv with your back to the screen..
my earlier one was 683 or something similar and it had a more pronounced crease.
guys - what about the stand!!! ?, do they take the monolith stand back as well as the tv?
so i can spend tonight having a surf for a cheapo 40" tft.
can't help thinking they had better get things sorted before they start making the 65" model.
apparently there have been sightings near the sony plant making these of employees purchasing 6" wallpaper past brushes, the source said on their employee id badges their role was listed as "Bravia Adhesive Application Engineer"
bign55,
personally mate keep the stand, its only the tv they will swap out for replacement is'nt it, as long as the original metal stand is in the box with the tv thats fine.
southernsmoggy,
LOL!!!, YOU FUNNY MAN!!, i wondered how long it would take you!!!
sat in BA lounge with wifi and time to kill....nothing else to do as i've finished the work i needed to catch up on
What a complete farce this is becoming...for a 2-3k flagship TV you should be really ashamed if you let this go without properly fixing it Sony.
Interestingly enough, more and more of the US owners are now picking up on this "edge artefact" so it will be interesting to see if our friends over the pond are able to make bigger ripples in the water to get Sony to wake up and restore customer faith in a FLAGSHIP model...
Even WHF are beginning to lose their patience with lack of official response (no offence Lee)...how many more people have to point out the elephant in the room?????
I think that Panasonic is getting more and more attractive everytime I come back and read these threads
