Sony KDL**HX923

Should i be worried, apparently complaints are comming in already for this new tv on dark verticle lines either side of the screen!, i have seen this before on the LG i had that went back for a full refund as it was the area where the ribbon cable joins at the screen for the backlight (could be seen from the front) i had 3 of them and the engineer said its not right, heres the pics of the Sony.

anyone feeling that all of the recent activity on this thread, the avforum thread and the What HiFi thread might actually be causing more internal discussions in Sony?

I kind of feel this time last week Sony were happy with their stance, send your TV back we'll replace it and send you some extra 3D glasses. sorted hopefully issues goes away.

one week later, flury of deliveries issues still there customers now active again on all kinds of websites complaining. publically total silence from Sony (though Lee@Sony has admirably been replying directly to people) even What HiFi cannot get a response. could it be the silence is because they are looking again at what could be done if anything???

given how peed off most of us now are they cannot make the situation any worse so why not just come out and tell the truth. i for one would respect them more for that. i'd rather hear "look folks we admit the TV's are not perfect and the reason is blah blah blah....." even if they then went on to argue that no set is perfect (bit like apple did with the iphone 4 death grip saga) we'd all agree with them and crucially we'd honestly then no nothing will change in production so we have all the facts and can now make the choice, namely get your money back and move on or live with it.

if they come forward and tell me this i'm happy i would still happily by their products again without doubt as they'd have regained some credibility in my eyes though maybe next time i'd wait a month or two and try not to be an early adopter.

the only way sony WILL lose me as a customer over this is if they say nothing else about it.

collected at last, still got a few hours of the afternoon left to do something with, lets see how long a replacement takes now.

bign55,

good luck with your new set and i hope its a good one, still cant understand this exchange business, i would have thought they would have bought the replacement with them, its common sense to keep cost down plus the exchange of paperwork covers it anyway, makes it sound like no one can be trusted and they want to make sure they have everything back first, remote, skype camera, glasses, leads etc. before they send you a new one!

anyway hope it ends well.

Yeah they did did'nt they, did you notice that they said the same thing they've said before, probably something to do with the fact that they are still looking into it.

Thanks Andy

I found it:smileywink: im at work at the moment so just keep popping in to see what's happening. My tv is going back i have told my Sony Dealer and they have been great and can't beleive that this is being let out on the Market.   I work in the Motor industry and if we get reports of faults on a part production stops and we then inform the customer to bring the vehicle back to the dealership to be rectified. It's all about damage limitation the quicker you sort the problem the customer retains faith in the product. Im a new customer to Sony the product is reasonably good apart from this issue. If Sony cannot fix it till the 2012 model comes out but are willing to let us have the 2012 model in exchange for the faulty 2011 model i can live with it until then. But will that happen? Hiddy guys. 1st post here. Following this chain ever since inception and just want to say what a great positive impact it has made on my now decision - HX823. Why??? Just like most of you, I glean through loads of reviews before ever making any purchase and right now, doubt I can live with having a faulty set having paid top £s.

Been waiting for the 923 since it was announced and gone through quite a bit of jibes from pals calling me paranoid but then ain't SONY worth waiting for.  Now kinda glad I did not part with my old rugged Phillips during the initial pre-order TV swap period:smileywink: Phillips has since passed on to the great scrapyard beyond:smileysad:

You see, I got me a new place in January, had it all done up properly and a special spot on the wall just for "my Darling" 923. At one point, even had sticky tape against the wall depicting the TV's size and each day dreamt of the real thing up there, watching footie with the lads and those romantic 3Ds with the Missus(why else will I be getting it:smileymischief:), instead of the samsung 22" I had sat on the floor. A las, guess not now!

So, Samsung goes up the wall in the Study and HX823 takes the place of my divorced never married 929.....gush, it is so painful even thinking about it. Anyhow, also checked around reviews on 823 and nothing as dramatic as the 923. Ok, understandly a few techie differences and accessories but what is swaying me are:

1. Comment from "http://www.hdtvtest.co.uk/news/sony-kdl46hx823-kdl55hx823-201102081019.htm" ............"While on paper the Motionflow XR 400 motion technology implemented on the Sony HX823 only offers half the refresh rate of the Motionflow XR 800 found on the top-tier HX923 (400Hz vs 800Hz), in real-life viewing any difference is likely to be subtle rather than obvious..........."

2. For £2150 I get the 823; £45 gives me the TDG-BR250 glass (am getting 3 pairs) and £79 gets me the webcam.

So guys, tell me really, what will I be missing out of except the 929 name? Please comment before I hit that payment tab
