Should i be worried, apparently complaints are comming in already for this new tv on dark verticle lines either side of the screen!, i have seen this before on the LG i had that went back for a full refund as it was the area where the ribbon cable joins at the screen for the backlight (could be seen from the front) i had 3 of them and the engineer said its not right, heres the pics of the Sony.

Edited links to work properly (originally double http)
i considered downgrading to the 823....sounds silly to say downgrade as the 823 isn't cheap either....but then we've seen over on avforums a handful of 823 owners reporting same issues...so no guarantees there either.
also for i don't want an edge lit set the backlit is what i wanted hence my intial interest in the 923.
Cheers Bravia. But apart from the obvious "Glue" concern, what else do you think? Worth taking the dive or sit back till Sony says otherwise on the 929?
Nice one smogg. Does leave one in a bit of a conundrum. Didn't know it had complains too. Hmmmm!!!!!
my views are the same as smoggs at the moment, its really entirely up to you, try your dealer and see if one is available to view.
Morning Folks,
it would appear that the next batch of TVs are due 10th of September - quite a delay, though hopefully worth it so that buying one of these sets wont be some kind of 'crease' lottery, (oops I mean edge artefact).
I'm pinning my hopes on the fact that ONE person on AVForums has a crease free set. I know it's just an isolated incident of a crease free HX923 but we can hope that Sony can replicate this.
Good morning!,
well we can expect a little more of the same, it will not matter when the next batch is due until Sony comes forth with confirmation that the manufacturing process has indeed been changed.
As of yet they still have not changed their statement that its only been an isolated few that has been affected to its a little more widespread than first anticipated!.
i expect a new statement is in order to clarify this sometime soon, its fruitless to keep sending sets back only to get more of the same.
Yes indeed it looks like a compression issue, if you press on a computer screen you get a dark shadow on it, it would lead many to think that somethings been done up too tight in the manufacture, however heres the thing, Sony have already said thus far its down to the bonding process where the Adhesive has not cured properly!, we can only hope a more solid answer will be posted soon.
So what happens if you keep the creased TV and then demand a replacement once the non-crease pack gets released? This way you don't necessary have to be without a TV. Guess the 5years warranty does cover this action, doesn't it? Especially now as it is so well documented.
The more I look at the TV the more I have to wonder if it is down to glue or if it is actually something else - it just seems to be too uniform a line to be down to a glue problem. It almost seems like a compression issue with something causing the effect from behind or something else. The right as you can see is far worse than the left.
