Should i be worried, apparently complaints are comming in already for this new tv on dark verticle lines either side of the screen!, i have seen this before on the LG i had that went back for a full refund as it was the area where the ribbon cable joins at the screen for the backlight (could be seen from the front) i had 3 of them and the engineer said its not right, heres the pics of the Sony.

Edited links to work properly (originally double http)
Hi all
Just to add my two penny's worth.
Had my 55 hx923 delivered last Friday, set it up and everything seemed to be going fine, but slowly over the weekend the dreaded crease started to become more apparent.
To start it was very faint and you really had to look to find it ( right hand side only ) but to me it seemed to get worse over time, strange really, the wife had not noticed it until I pointed it out but as soon as you know its there you cant help but keep looking at it.
Took the TV back to Sony centre where they said they would swap it over, unboxed a brand new 07/2011 one thinking happy days a TV less than a month old should be fine but once set up and turned on the crease was much worse than mine and on both sides!!!
Sony centre said that they were under the impression it had all been sorted but of the 3 that they had delivered all have now been returned, mine, another customer and the display one.
Am now waiting to hear back about when new batch is due and the store are contacting Sony direct for an update.
For reference if it helps anyone, I purchased the TV at Sony Centre Lakeside ( who are a great bunch of guys, very helpful & very knowledgeable ) and the serial number was 3601039 with 06/2011 date.
Really hope that this gets sorted as apart from the obvious issue it is a truely amazing TV.
A quick question for you all regarding this tv's power cable, I have never seen this type of power lead before, quite annoying trying to hide cable ( have tv mounted on wall with all cables nicely hidden ) is there a reason for this new power cable ? is it better worse than the old style push in plug ?? just seems quite a strange connection.

I agree, it isn't getting any better. I am still waiting for a response after my 2nd TV came with the strip/crease !!
oh dear!,
brings it all to the point StartTheCar made about the manufacturing process has not changed!!!, its about time it was as clearly this is not right, people are starting to look out for the Nano tech tv from LG now!!
in response to your power cable question, why would you concern yourself with that?, i presume you mean the plug at the back of the tv, in order to know what that was you would have had to remove the plastic plate on the back of it, i would be very carful tinkering about in there you may end up invalidating the warranty!, besides i thought you said in your post it went back, do you have a replacement already?

Hi
Unfourtunately I dont have a replacement already still not sure when!!
The reason I mentioned the power cable is that as I said in my post I will have the TV on the wall where all cabling is hidden behind, the wires are fed through very small holes in the in the wall, with the normal kettle plug it was easy to just feed through but this seemed a strange new way of doing a power cord especially as a lot of people will hang these on wall brackets and wont have feed holes the size of a full size plug.
Good point about the warranty though, I cant be the only one who will experience this though, once you remove the one small screw it is just a simple push in connector with a very small end, seems a strange way to do a power lead.
Hi,
thats a fair point, but since i have no idea how they do it now i dont know but surely easier to take the 3 pin plug off and slip it back on once you've fed the cable through the hole in the wall!
regards.
Hi
That was my first aim, to take the plug off but its a moulded plug so would have had to cut the wire, which would have definately raised a few warranty questions im sure!! when you take the little cover off its like a phone connector you plug into your wall so it can be removed with no hassle ( just one very small screw which is the one you see on the back of the TV) just intrigued as to why a power lead that has remained the same for years has suddenly changed and is fitted in a strange way, but hey with the issues surrounding this TV thats the least of its and my problems!!
Rubicon44,
you know, i believe you are correct!, my tv went back for replacement and my dealer installed it and took it away so i never really looked at the plugs, but i can say this, you ARE allowed to remove the little plastic cover in order to remove the cable tie for use elsewhere, i believe this was mentioned in the manual someplace so for you to do what you needed to do must make it ok,
sorry to here you have fell foul of the crease also and hope you get a good one soon.
regards.
Hi
Fingers crossed for everyone on here, be nice to be able to all sit back and enjoy a potentially great TV.
Hope it all works out well in the end!!!
Fingers crossed for those awaiting crease free TVs.
A few shots of my own set up:
Apologies for the low quality, taken with iPhone camera.
norks27,
very nice!, gonna have to do better with them wires all over the place though, lol, you noticed its gone a bit quiet on here?, sony staff gone into hiding!, posted on here the other day and was testing, i wrote using the following word exactly like this (b**ch) and it got removed straight away!!, yet someone else on here posted words like "twats" and "bummer" a good week ago and thats still there!, funny lot!,
glad your happy with your tv, still waitng on mine but i dont mind as long as they get it right this time, did they send the monolith stand with yours?
