Should i be worried, apparently complaints are comming in already for this new tv on dark verticle lines either side of the screen!, i have seen this before on the LG i had that went back for a full refund as it was the area where the ribbon cable joins at the screen for the backlight (could be seen from the front) i had 3 of them and the engineer said its not right, heres the pics of the Sony.

Crease Technical Explanation from Sony I just got off the phone with a Sony Engineer. Their support has been absolutely awesome so far. You can really tell they care about their product. The issue has been identified as an adhesive curing rate problem between the polarizer and the glass. Through research they have identified sets manufactured after June 15th as being fixed. No word yet on how they will handle replacements. http://ww.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?p=20680888&posted=1#post20680888
Hiya Start the car
Is there anymore news from Sony on what the cause is for the crease? Also those free glasses will these be for every customer who has had a tv on order? My TV was delivered to the Sony Centre in Manchester Arndale while i was on holiday in Australia. I e-mailed Sony in Manchester while i was away informing them of the problem so they said my TV would be sent back. So would i qualify for the extra glasses for extended delivery time for a fault free set? And has the e-mail been sent to all dealers? Only it seems that certain customers are having problems with their dealers not knowing, and also your own customer service department don't seem to know what's going on?
We look for further clarification into the matter
Thanks
Paul
Radtech51,
thats very interesting however that applies to models for the USA market so a little uncertain if that applies to the european sets as they are assembled in Europe, i do wonder if the same adhesive is used worldwide as that would explain how the sets are affected here and across the pond, theres so much speculation as to the reason this fault occured so i think i'll sit tight and wait for the explanation from StartTheCar here at Sony uk.

Thank you for that information, and I'm looking forward to reading about what Sony has to say about the cause. This might very well be the very same issue but we way never know unless the source is revealed to us by Sony. Bottom line is I just want the problem fixed but it would still like to know the reason, a good mystery haunts the mind. I'm hoping to get the 65" when it arrives this Aug.
Ok well my replacement tv has been dispatched, havent had a call from dhl yet but have phoend sony and they confirm it has left them, really hope this is a good one, as I was under the impression I would have to wait until August, anyway we shall see, fingers crossed.

Maybe the screen and glass are put together at one factory in Japan and then they are shipped out to the regional factories. Those factories could then add the specific regional tuners, electronics and finish the assembly. It's just a theory.
Hi Lee,
I would greatly appreciate it if you could consider my set for direct replacement. My dealer is now over 100 miles away from me (250 mile round trip) so really don't relish the prospect of driving there to exchange a set
My location is Sutton, Surrey
Also, can you confirm what is going to happen to the 5 years warranties some of us have registered for seeing these are based on the serial number of the original set?
Thanks
Jules
@julsadot - I would imagine you just re register the new TV for the 5 year waranty.
Also, Sutton Sony Centre have been excellent in dealing with my order, so get a refund with whoever it is and go local in Sutton

The problem with the refund is...I'd most likely have to make the trip to return the set
Besides, when I bought my set, it was a pre-order, and was one of the lucky ones to have the £300 off based on handing back on old set (my justification to the wife for going 55" instead of 46"). I can imagine any permutation of seeing me return the set and re-buying elsewhere will see me having to inject another £300 to get the same set.
Nice to hear about Sutton Sony Centre tho.
Cheers
Jules
p.s. Bought mine from Digital Link in Leicester, and they were also superb (highly recommended for anyone around there)

That's sounds logical to me, and I think I can live with all the mysteries just as long as this issue really is fixed. This Tv really is Awesome and it stands at the top right next to the legendary Elite Pioneer Kuro's. I'm sure Sony is Very proud of this Tv!
