OK,
I have reinstalled windows. Direct X works fine.
However, I have a couple of new VERY annoying problems.
1. My firewire port has literally this second stopped working. I use this for my external Hard Drive. I know it is nothing to do with the Hard Drive itself as I have just plugged it into USB and it works fine.
What has caused this and how can I fix it!!
2. I have downloaded the Utils pack from the download site. I have installed the Hotkeys thing and also the Sony Notebook Setup.
The Hotkeys still dont work and when I try to load th Sony Notebook Setup program from the start menu it tells me...
"You failed to load SnyUtlis.dll. Please make sure it is properly installed"
You guys have helped me loads recently and I feel like I am being a pain but please HELP!!!
Owen
Oh I know it's usually not achingly difficult. I just don't understand why the second you upgrade to Pro Sony just don't want to know. As someone said in a post somewhere today, their response to his problem was 'Sorry we don't support XP Professional'.
I don't want Pro so it doesn't bother me all that much, but why do they do that?
I think it's just to simplify the support process. Most telephone support personnel are working from a script and have little in depth technical knowledge. You pays peanuts . . . . . . . .
Ah well fair enough. Company economics and all that. Well not fair but there you go.
You pays peanuts . . . . . . . .
The products themselves are expensive but the support staff are probably not on huge wages.
I just hope there will be ONE version of Longhorn, no home, pro etc
Debates about Sony to one side, I DID download all the drivers and I DID know what I was uninstalling. The fact of the matter is, the things I downloaded did not work as intended and that is why I am posting here, desperately trying to sort my problems out.
If I can sort out my problems I will be happy.
Did you install the Sony Shared Libraries followed by Sony Utilities?
Erm... No (going red...)
I looked on the downloads page for my laptop, but could not find them... could you point me in the right direction?
Owen - can you get me your model number for your laptop? Without it I cannot give you the link! Ta.
The recovery DVD / last CD of RCD set has it
