I have a Vaio, model no.SVF1521Q1EB and had to have a new hard drive fitted under the guarantee. It is now in factory settings mode.
Before the hard drive failed, I created a Vaio Recovery on a Flash drive, which hopefully saved all my photos and audio files.
My problem is, I do not have any detailed instructions on how to transfer the info on the Flash drive onto my computer.
Please, can someone help?
Hi colinrash and welcome.
Unfortunately, the Vaio Recovery will not have saved your data. The purpose of Recovery Media is to return the Vaio's System to factory settings.
Unless you backed up your data as well, I'm afraid it will have been lost.
Have a look at the Recovery, Backup and Troubleshooting Guide here: -
https://docs.sony.com/release/QRG_445107111.pdf
It is not for your exact model but is fairly generic.
Thanks very much for your reply and guide. I did keep a copy of the backup data, just before the hard drive failed.
After reading the guide, it looks as though I have to form a recovery from recovery media using my flash drive.
