Pulsing cursor and lost control of machine!

HELP!!!

I was trying to help a mate with a touchscreen VA10 today and somehow I've pressed something that has reduced the effectiveness of the mouse. The cursor seems to sit in the middle of the screen and just pulses! it's as if it the computer is trying to make you aware of where the cursor is. If you move the mouse to the windows button it lets you click but the menu flashes up and then disappears. I've obviously activated something but have no idea what or how to get rid of it. Any ideas?!!

I'm not familiar with this model but suggest you try a Windows system restore to a time when all was as it should be.

Thanks! I'll give it a go if I can get the cursor to behave long enough! It's so frustrating because I think it would so easy to put right if only I knew what I'd done!
