I have a Sony Vaio. Occasionally the touchpad start to have this repetitive left mouse clicking action, when nobody is anywhere near the laptop at a rate of about once 1-2 secs. To stop it, you have to disable the touchpad, rendering the touchpad unusable. Tried to uninstall the driver, but this only yield for a restart of the laptop when it works normally but then starts to do the same thing. It pretty much happens within a period of time using the laptop, sometimes 5 minutes after us, sometimes 30 minutes.
Has anyone come across this and been able to fix this ?
Hi BenJGrant and welcome.
Unfortunately it sounds like a hardware problem where the left button contact is shorting.
This may not be possible to repair and may need a replacement touchpad.
