Writing to DVD

I have seen that there are lots of posts about DVD formats etc. I am having trouble writing to DVD: I have updated my firmware for the drive on my FR215H and I have tried both DVD-rW and DVD+rW disks but no success.

when you say with little sucse how do you mean? You get an error message when writing? If so what does it say?

Try closing down all running programs when writing if you havn't done so already.

What type of files are you trying to write and from what? I know with DVD click if your trying to write straight from a camera there are only certain cameras the program will work with. Anyhoot need more info.

I am trying to back up files onto DVD. I am using Drag N Drop DVD software. I have tried moving both normal word document files and also music wma. files but neither with any success. On occasions the software will start running and even starts to try to write butthen it says that there is an error writng to disk: it then doesn't recognise any DVD that I put into the drive.
I need to use a DVD instead of a cd because I am a teacher and have masses of notes that won't fit onto CD. I also have 4GB of music files that I want to back up in case my hard disk fails (which has already happened once!) {I am trying to learn from my mistakes because I did not back up anything last time and lost years of work! Stupid me!}
