Unfortunately the adoptable storage isnt available. your options would be to remove applications and or transffer some data to sd card
enabling adoptable storage might involve software modifications which may void your warranty
the bloatware is a disaster. i dont use many apps or download them i have gmail, amazon music player, fb, and the odd game. i cannot get rid of music or mail or other crap and i am always at 65%. bogus
clear the app cache to free up space.
I bought the XA Ultra from Amazon UK and a fast micro sd card to go with it, assuming that with Android 6.0 this could be used as internal storage.
It can't. It's there a safe way of working round this? Or do I just return the phone to Amazon with my 30 days? Such a shame as the rest of the phone is great.
Hi @TechieBeckie,
In our Android 6.0 release, you can use the SD card as a portable storage to move apps, photos and other media. However, the SD card cannot be formatted as an internal storage. The option was removed in our Android 6.0 release because it impacted software encoding and quality.
Whoa! So the function was actually REMOVED?! I am liking this less and less.
Of course the problem is compounded by apps which are unremovable like Amazon Shopping etc. There really isn't much space on the 16gb xa ultra once os, unremovable 3Rd party apps and various Google services are included.
In less than a month I am already at the stage of deleting items just to use the camera! What's the best solution other than send the phone back?
