Lagging & overheating after software update

Juz had a software update on 3 June in the middle of the night. The next day, my phone started to lag drastically. Overtime, it starts to overheat too. Did the usual steps of restarting the phone, switching it off & on but problem still persist. Also realised after the software update, the memory used for Android OS increased way too high, 1.5G instead the normal Mb. Anyone else having this problem after updating software? Is it due to the software itself? Cause my phone was all normal before the update. Hope to hear feedbacks! Anyway, i'm currently using Sony Xperia XA dual.

Hello @Hairil16 and welcome to the community!

Usually, after updates, Android system will keep optimizing for the next few days. So my advice is to be patient and observe if the symptoms are gone spontaneously. If not, then I'd suggest that you perform a software repair using Xperia Companion. This will do a clean installation of the latest firmware and will also wipe your internal memory. Don't forget to backup using Xperia Companion, but preferably without adding apps or settings to the backup.

Follow the steps given in blue links, and keep us updated.

Hi,

Exactly the same issue since two days, the phone is overheating even is not in use and is really slow (lag)
I use STAMINE eco mode all the time, autonomy was +/- 48hrs with STAMINA (not ultra stamina) now in less than one night the battery is drained and the phone is off...

Remove SD CARD and SIM CARD = same problem.

In airplane mode = same problem.

Reset factory default = same problem.

Repair usinsg xperia companion = same problem.

In safe mode = same problem.

I think I wil call Sony support tomorrow (this day is OFF in France) in order to have a solution.

Thanks for the reply. I'm still wondering if it's anything to do with the new software or is there a problem with my phone. My batt would only last a day at best even when i'm not using it. Charging my phone has been a problem too, way too slow for the batt to increase but way too fast for it to decrease. Lagging is still there too. I'm still waiting for the 1week period which i was informed by Sony Care in Singapore the duration for the phone to stabilise after a major software upgrade. Such a hassle since it greatly impacts our way of life. But looking at the positive side, i now know that i'm not alone. Lets hope that its just due to the major update & the phone is taking time to stabilise. Cause i would hate to change to a new phone as i've just used my current Xperia for a year.

Which software you got for updating. Is it nougat.

Hi,

After a call to Sony tech suport yesterday, they ask to send the phone to the local repair centre in order to fix the problem.

The update is not a major update (still android 6, not nougat), but a software components like "what's new" or something like that.

I have also see a huge memory consumption by the Android system, +/- 1.7Go.

Yesterday phone fully charged and unplugged @ 07h30 AM, drained and powered off @12h00 in stamina mode... autonomy 4h30... without call...

On my side, if the phone is OFF, the charge is very quick as usual, but if i try to charge the phone powered ON in this case the charge is slow, I think due to a big CPU usage (lot of power needed).

My wife ask for a new phone, the Xperia X compact seems good for his hands but this type of problem with my Xperia XA will delay the phone replacement...

Ok... so my phone seems working fine now, maybe a software update has caused this issue but for now everything is ok... i will wait until the end of this week and if no more problem occurs I will cancel my ticket onto Sony tech support.

The only operation was to just plugged the phone to the charger and wait for a long time, maybe a process optimization was made after the update.
