Hi everyone,
I got the phone (dual sim) 2 weeks ago and today i've installed the nougat update successfully.
What i did was the following steps (Be sure to back up everything before doing anything):
1)Safely removed the sd card from the phone
2)Did a factory reset.
3)Downloaded the update via OTA (wifi).
4)Installed the update. Fortunately everything went fine.
5)I made sure the version 7 was installed, under settings, about phone, android version (titles may vary, since mine is in my native language)
6)Did another factory reset.
7)Re-downloaded-synced everything again until it gets back to normal.
8)Put the sd card in again.
So far everything seems to be going smoothly. Here are my first thoughts:
- Had a signal problem before the update; Phone constantly changed from 4g to 3g and 2g and so on making battery go dead within half a day with average use. 4g/3g reception isn't good where i live, but still didn't have that problem with my previous phones. After the update it seems to have fixed itself, now the android system is 6th on the battery consumption list (it consumed more battery even more than the screen itself before the update).
- Battery seems to drop more smoothly now with one minor exception, the camera. Camera now seems to draw a lot more battery than it did before, but maybe i'm wrong. I got approx 96mah of battery use with just 5 min of camera operation. Maybe it was the same as before as i've said, i only have the phone for a couple of weeks.
- Everything seems super fast! It's like on steroids, transitions, animations, etc, all seem to be faster now.
- Launcher's version is different; I can't seem to find a way to scroll the wallpaper together with the icons (only icons scroll).
- I haven't experienced the flashing screen while talking.
- There's a slight screen flash whenever i open the album.
- Nougat has slightly increased memory consumption. But then again so it was the case with marshmallow, etc. I had 1,9-1,8 gb free, now i'm seeing around 1,7-1,8. Fine by me.
I'll keep you updated if anything major happens. Generally i'm very pleased with the update, seems nicely done.Cheers!
Edit 1 - Camera App is weird; It wont let me use any scene unless i reduce the resolution to 8M. I'm pretty sure this is not intented as it was working perfectly before and generaly makes no sense making such a change.
