xa1 NOT charging

I've recently got an xa1 (less than a week). It doesn't want to charge. I've tried all the suggestions I can find such as checking the charger and cable (both are OK, both are Sony). I've tried resetting it. I've tried gently cleaning the charging port and connector. It takes several attempts to get it to start charging - red light and charging icon. Then it stops and I get the empty battery icon. Is this handset faulty or have I missed something?

(My previous phone was an xperia Z and I've never had any problem with it.)

This just happened to me. I had the phone 2 months and have to send back to the factory and pay the shipping. It looks like this is a known problem. Will take a month to fix. Ridiculous. I won't buy again

Be carefull. XA1 has loose USB connection and may cause burning.

Your charging port is bad and needs to be replaced.just happened to me

I am also having a charging problem. Charging indication lights up when plugged in, but then goes off after a few minutes on sony charger and snug charger alike. Device is not branf new.
