Xperia xa no reading sd card

I have started running out of storage on my mobile so went into to transfer data to my sd card but there is no sign of it on the mobile. I have tried restarting taking it out and in all the usual stuff bit still no joy

Do you have another SD card you can try? Also, has this SD card worked in this phone before?

I don't have another sd card and I'm not sure I put the card in when I first got the phone but never really checked. As I d if not have to use it. I'm going to charge up my old mobile and try the sd card to make see if it still works

That is worth trying. You may also need to format the SD card.

Please be aware that any content on the SD card will be lost with this process. 

To format your SD card go to: Settings > Storage > Options (3 dots) > Advanced > Storage > SD Card > Options > Settings > Format.
