Battery drains off 2 times faster after updating to 10.1.A.1.434

Hello,

I experience much lower battery life after updating to 10.1.A.1.434.

Before that the I had to charge the phone every 2-3 days. Now it requires charging almost every day (can't go over 1,5 day even with limited usaged).

Android OS consumes 2 times more battery. It was 24% before the update and now it's 50%+.

I suspect the wireless driver is causing it as when I (or location-based wi-fi) switch the Wi-Fi off then the Android OS goes back to normal.

I liked the battery life before - my record was 3,5day with Stamina mode OFF and both Wi-Fi (connected) and Bluetooth (disconnected) ON all the time and syncing 2 Google accounts and 1 Exchange until battery capacity was below 30%.

Now I'm quite disappointed.

Any plans to fix this bug soon? Or any way of reverting back to 10.1.A.1.350?

Thanks & best

pda,

This is normal when you install or update your Android. Firstly, because all battery statistic is empty. And secondly, because Android(miainly Media Server) have to do a lot of indexing of all the content both in Internal & External SD the first time it run. Dont' be alarmed because everything will be fine once this process is done. Which could take hours. Just use your phone normally and after a few battery cycle(full charge and discharge), your battery consumtion will return back to normal. Or even better.

This is not normal and this is definately not the correct answer. The latest firmware (10.1.A.1.434) has battery issues, this is no news and complaints about it are all over the net. Please release an update soon if you want to have satisfied users. Thank you.

All over the internet? Can you link these complaints?

anyone can google. no big deal. just wanted to know where u got your sources.

I'm on XDA everyday reading almost everything related to the Z. Or android in general. And If you have actuall read all these links you posted, instead of just googling them, you will know that Z's battery is on par with current leading smartphones. Including the current HTC One X.

And things i stated above are information your can find on XDA. Not something i conjure with magics and spells.

When mobile phone owners complain about battery rain, it's always because they're comping from a non-smartphone, or they don't understand how battery is consumed and/or calibrated in Android.

The only solution to this is either they learn how to managed their phone, or buy external battery charger.

As long as you don't know how to manage your apps, your phone, you won't last half a day regardless of what mobile phone you use.

FOr the past 10-15 year, mobile technology has  increases exponentially when compared to battery technology. An era where information means more power consumtion. And if you expect more information to be available on your mobile, expect more battery consumtion.

I must agree with Zann.H. I've marked this thread as answered because (s)he was right. The phone battery life is now back to normal. It took a week, so others who complain about the battery life should wait before resetting the phone into factory. It will start reindexing and they'll end up in the infinite loop.

As I use my Z mainly for reading emails I can easily over two days.

I must say the Z is the best smart phone I ever had. I used Nexus S and sometimes it died after few hours it has been idle because of bug in WI-FI.

The other point is battery gauge. It shows incorrect information but this won't force me to factory reset.

Best,

Petr

Hello,

a. I have read all the above threads.

b. I have used other smartphones.

As I stated, my conclusion is that the issues are in the latest firmware, not the actual device. The reason I am sure that something is wrong is the following:

Before I buy the Z I had a similar (like 100% similar device) with the following differences:

(battery: 2140 mAh & display: 720 x 1280 pixels, 4.7 inches), no need to name it here.

So same use, same apps, same network. Well, you guessed it right, the battery lasted longer.

I don't expect miracles, just lasting 1 day is enough (for my use).

No need to keep arguing on this, I am a 95% certain that there is some serious issue (it is possible that it is because of the low gps signal for example) but whatever it is, it results in battery draining.

best regards.

The accuray of the battery gauge will increase with time as the application learn more about your daily phone usage. no reason to reset. Slightly_smiling_Face
