Data won't activate on Xperia ZL

I recently bought this ZL and had it unlocked so that I could go with another carrier (Kodoo in Canada).  My plan has 600MB of data included, but when I turned mobile data on, nothing happened. I tried loading some websites and watching a youtube video, but it said that wifi and mobile data were turned off and that I was offline.  The wifi works just fine when I'm connected to it, but when I try to use data, it doesn't seem to to work.

One thing I tried was going to settings -> xperia -> internet settings -> accept
However, when I pressed the accept button, absolutely nothing happens. It's still the same as before, where mobile data is seemingly on, but I'm receiving any data.

Any help is appreciated.

enter the settings manually

settings > more > mobile networks > access point names > menu > add new > enter the info > menu > save > it should work

which version of the ZL do you have?
