I have had the new Xperia Z for two days, and am trying to transfer videos onto the phone. But
when I try to transfer it across to the phone it wants to convert the file to a compatable format for the xperia, this takes considerably more time to transfer the file.
The videos Im trying to move across are already MP4 therefore i cant understand why it doesnt recognise the file type as being compatable and wants to convert it first.
Is their special requirements for my videos for the phone to recongise the file as usable and compatable and thereby removing the need for it to spend vast amounts of time converting the files first?
Thanks in advance

don't use media go to transfer the videos, just transfer them directly (computer > xperia Z > either SD card or internal storage)

I am all I’m doing is copy and pasting the file straight into the desired folder but either the pc or the Sony pc companion pops up a window that says- this file may not play properly and prompts me to chose either to let it convert the file or simply copy it straight across with the warning that it may not play correctly- any ideas?
I am having very similar issues with mine, i cant transfer music files. Ive tried through media go, and even with the way that has been said on here, but no matter what i do i cant transfer the files that i want. Any help would be great thanks
try the above suggestions
I have tried above suggestions and all I get is the copying bar and it stays at the same mark for a half hour. I wouldn't believe that it would take longer than that to copy a 3mb mp3 file
that's quite odd try this
turn off your phone > on your PC install/update JAVA > restart your PC > disable your firewall and antivirus > press and hold the volume down key then connect the usb cable to your Xperia Z > do NOT release the back key > your computer should download the drivers > if that doesn work then
install SUS > restart your PC > disable your firewall and antivirus > run SUS > press and hold the volume down key then connect the usb cable to your Xperia Z > do NOT release the back key

the best option I've found is to transfer video straight across without conversion then use MX Player from the playstore (the best I've found) to play the video - it pretty much plays everything were as the default player has limitations
Would i need a broadband connection as i currently use my phone for tethering (no internet connection otherwise). Also could it be a computer issue as when i start up i can transfer one file then it would start doing the same issue as before
