UK Sony Xperia Z updates for unbranded phones.

Could somebody from Sony please explain why thousands of us are now 3 updates behind now regarding firmware updates?

We are still on 434!

How do we get Sonys attention on this?

Who's they?  I can understand branded being held back by operators to test bloatware but Sony is responsible for the Unbranded update no?

that i'm not sure about, i have been wondering the same myself who does the unbranded ones ๐Ÿ˜• but it might be still count on operator anyway idk like if you dont use a sim at all then maybe sony is one whille if you use O2 or so then it might be O2 that has to give you the update idk ๐Ÿ˜• might have to get some more facts about this.

Did you not say it's not Sony fault?

Unbranded phones clearly out number branded phones yet I'm still on 434. That's 3 updates behind.!! That's not O2s fault is it?

Isn't it the case that either sony has overlooked us or is deliberately holding back and giving the.phone operators and their minority branded phones time to get their updates out first?

So we have every right to blame Sony for a terrible service.

I doubt that unbranded phones outnumber branded ones. The majority of people would have network branded phones I'd imagine.

It's only mugs like ourselves who forked large sums of money for SIM free Xperias in order to have network bloatware free phones, and in the mistaken belief thet we would get software updates first who are complaining. Most of the network branded phone owners have already got the 4.2.2 update, so we're not hearing complaints from them.

I think that Sony have rolled out the updates to most of the network branded phones first, because the mobile operators buy the devices in bulk from Sony.

Customers who bought SIM free devices are in the minority, and just an inconvenient annoyance to Sony IMHO.

As many others have said, there will not be another Sony device of any kind darkening the walls of my house ever again!

So,  still no explanation from Sony as to why UK unbranded phones are still 3 firmware updates behind.  Not surprised.

I am bemused as to how and why this question is assumed answered when it clearly is not. The question was clearly posed for Sony to deal with. If the Sony personnel who deal with queries on this website are unable to answer the question perhaps they could escaulate the matter with their line manager who in turn can further raise the mattter until an intelligent response it given.

I was advised yesterday by a Three shop that I went into that the Car Phone Warehouse might be able.update an Xperia Z at one of their stores as they tend to have an in-house technical support facility. By the way the sales assistant I spoke to said that he had had an Xperia Z but that he  got rid of it as it was far too buggy; it had the sudden death and camera faults etc.

Bottom line for Sony is that their level of customer support and product build quality is remembered. Bugs I would expect but the failure to address them speaks volumes.

In the interim I suggest that you email Pierre Perron the MD of Sony Mobile UK and Ireland directly to vocie your concerns.

What do they say about assumptions?  Lol

I think we should keep bumping this thread so it's noticed and keep doing so until we get a good response back?   Probably just get the standard waffle blah,  blah, blah.  ๐Ÿ˜‰

Absolutely concur.  Unfortunately I think that this thread will get more bumps than a dodge'm car before the issue is resolved.

What really annoys me about this is the absolute refusal of Sony customer services to communicate with anyone about these issues.

It doesn't matter how many times you email them, or the content of the email....It's just the same old cut and paste reply every time.

Not a lot you can do about it at this stage, except flash a ROM from a different jurisdiction who have received the update.

Just remember this the next time you're tempted to spend money on any Sony device, and spend it on a rival brand who might value their customers.
