UK Sony Xperia Z updates for unbranded phones.

Could somebody from Sony please explain why thousands of us are now 3 updates behind now regarding firmware updates? 

We are still on 434!

How do we get Sonys attention on this?

Why would you change to a feature-limited iPhone or an ugly-ass Samsung if you can just change to a different firmware customization, which is 99,9% identical to Generic UK and gets updated much faster each time? It's a one-time job. If you change to Generic FR for example, you will get all future updates at the same time as other phones with Generic FR firmware. There is very, very little difference between generic firmwares from different regions.

Why should anyone have to change their code? What is the issue with Sony and the update? They have been contacted hundreds of times by disgruntled owners. They are ignoring it. They offered poor service and.treated their customers of the pure Sony device like second hand citizens.

Every reason to jump ship, if a company treats your poorly..leave. That is what people have been doing to Sony this past ddecade, that's why Sony is poor company with little future, that is why Samsung is so God Damn successful.

I agree that Sony should update all firmware customizations, but sometimes it's just easier to change to a different customization and enjoy all future updates very quickly, instead of waiting ages and complaining (which apparently doesn't help anyway) or changing to a different brand (which also has disadvantages).

I know its easy to do and will solve allot of issues but its about customer support, not everyone knows how to or should be required to learn such things just to get updates the manufacturer promised

I'm with you PieAreSquare. We shouldn't have to flash the updates nobody else has to so why should we?

we are not asking for preferential treatment we just want to be treated the same as everyone else .

OK - i appreciate some of you will not believe in any way what i am about to type but at least its a helpful message.

I have just spoken to the TECHNICAL Team at VIRGIN MOBILE UK who indicated clearly that i will recieve the 4.2 update in the next 2 weeks as they have a rollout procedure of NEXUS 4, SAMSUNG 3 then SONY Z in that order

Take this as you will and lets see what happens - he also suggested that 4.3 would be the same way.

Why would you get a refund, is your handset totally unusable ? If it is I'd say something is physically wrong with your handset and no number of software updates will help.

You think that the update would allow us to axcess eternal life the way some people are acting, what do you think will change once we get this update? I see a lot of complaints in regards to the it, so it's not win win.

I am using a Xperia z and on the hole enjoy it alot apart from a couple of nigles but you have to exspect that with New phones as thats way it goes.

Ok my main reason to contact you is becouse the subject of lack of updates for unbranded Xperia z units is a bit worrying.

Other users with branded handsets are getting the updates and it seem we unbranded users are missing out.

The updates started rolling out in June and here we are a day away from August and still nothing.

If you go to the forum topic unbranded Xperia z

You will see very angry users who feel used by Sony

Only to have there money taken and support just walks away.

You will also see no moderators or suport are even touching the topic as if there scared to get cought up in it.

All I /we want is a time frame in days Not months or years as to when we will get 4.2 and now 4.3 .

And for Sony to acknowledge the issue.

Sony has suffered in recent years and is hurting financially and treating customers in this way is a very risky strategy and its really making me think its time to walk away and see what Samsung are offering .

Im Not trying to make it sound like a threat at all but customers are angry and need to be made calm with reassurance.

This phone cost me £500 and checking last night its now worth £175 in one month and when I ask in local shops why they tell me Sony dont update them tbere not desirable phones and am offered there service of rooting to get the latsest update witch I dont want to do at all I want it to be an endorsed Sony update

Please can you look into this and email myself back.

I have tride all the other lines of inquiries and to no avail at all.
