UK Sony Xperia Z updates for unbranded phones.

Could somebody from Sony please explain why thousands of us are now 3 updates behind now regarding firmware updates? 

We are still on 434!

How do we get Sonys attention on this?

With regards to your enquiry, we can assure that Android 4.2 is currently been rolled out and we expect all Sony Xperia Z handsets to receive this update. If you are wanting a refund this is somethign you would need to discuss with your point of sale.

well this is a clear case of false advertisement with the "will SOON be update to 4.2.2 after release" unless they have redefined the definision of soon, if a class action lawsuit is going to be taken then I will happily be a part of it, yes I know what we will get is neglegable and the whole exercise is a waste of our time as well as theirs but its about the fundimental message, you can't just do this to your customers and get away with it,

furthermore, swearing will get us nowhere, being rude to the unfortunate people working in support will neither help us or motivate them to help us, at best maybe getting this forum noticed on reddit, facebook or twitter would result in some bad publicity and finally get the higher ups interested in supporting ALL of their customers or at least comunicate to us what problem(s) is/are keeping them from doing so,
also remember that if your making unreasonable demands then it will discredit both your reasonable and unreasonable claims and demands, keep things civil and hopefully things will somehow work out, otherwise I'm going down the route of installing a custom rom once more (previously because they just dropped support for the xperia device I had and never released the updates promised saying it was not possible, it was possible, dxa was proof of that and so is the fact that I can even get jellybean 4.1.2 of that handset running reasonably well [the x10 mini pro]),
soon I will say goodbye to some apps I'd hoped to keep that do not work if the phone has been or is rooted (yes I had tried unrooting and it still detects the previous root) and have a bug free upto date phone if sony doesn't get its act together

So to summarise the state of the rollout as of 2nd August 2013;

• 10.1.A.1.350 (Initial Release - 1st March 2013) - 2 Variants
• 10.1.A.1.434 (~22nd March 2013) - 3 Variants(including UK Generic / UK Unbranded)
• 10.1.1.A.1.253 (~14th May 2013) - 14 Variants
• 10.1.1.A.1.307 (~11th June 2013) - 0 Variants
• 10.3.A.0.423 (~24th June 2013) - 25 Variants
• 10.3.1.A.0.244 (~30th July 2013) - 64 Variants

The UK O2 variant got the 10.3.1.A.0.244 today...

What poor users are still in the initial release firmware?  Wasn't that the sleep of death firmware? Sony Mobile,  please! Update your phones,  this is getting really out of hand! Why make these pathetic software update rollouts? Either release or don't,  why make up the senseless excuses? Is Sony being hardballed by carriers or competitors in the UK? Why UK in particular? So many questions and zero answers...

Sony I really would like you to succeed in the android world and it seems you have taken the first steps with the xperia z and zl.  However what is perplexing is the lack of support for customers that have purchased an unlocked phone in relation to 4.2.2 update. I have just joined this forum after trying (yet again) to see if the update was available ota or via your PC companion. And again I was greeted with nothing. Now we know 4.2.2 has been rolling out for sometime across the globe however I am at a loss to understand why we have not received it in the UK as yet. From looking at the start of this thread this has been going on for sometime.

We would simply like to know when this device will receive the update in the UK.

The last company that I purchased from that behaved like this in support of their flagship was Motorola and the Xoom.  Since that time I have and never will buy a Motorola product ever again and have advised all potential buyers that I know of how bad that company was (is).   I do not wish to replicate this experience with Sony. We only want clarity around when we can expect an upgrade to 4.2.2. Is that really that difficulty to provide?

And now that we won't get the update 4.2.2. Samsung and HTC ate now having the 4.3. It's Joke now Sony All u got to do it push the button how hard can that be.

Unbranded Xperia Z's in the UK still have no updates from launch and no sign of getting one so why don't GSM Arena write an article about that?

so lets ask gsmarena where i got my info on my mobile before i purchased it .

So, still nothing from Sony, I do think somehow (as a previous post) the generic UK handets have been "left off the list" and won't get an update.

Myself, other than the shocking speed the camera starts up and the pretty poor photos it takes when it does, I'm very happy with my XZ.

I was fuming about the lack of updates and still check daily, really it isn't that much of a big thing. I look at the kid's Nexus 7 with 4.3 and it ain't really any different. Gonna wait and see if we go directly to 4.3 without passing 4.2.2 etc.

If when other XZs around the world have got 4.3 and we don't then I may get wound up again........

Until then ya know what hey ho.

I'll stick with the knowledge that XP is the best Windows OS by far even after vista, 7 and 8. Snow Leopard is by far the best OS for Mac and the 2 more recent incarnations are not on par. iOS 6 is no different really than iOS 5 or 4, So maybe an update isn't the best thing!
