UK Sony Xperia Z updates for unbranded phones.

Could somebody from Sony please explain why thousands of us are now 3 updates behind now regarding firmware updates?

We are still on 434!

How do we get Sonys attention on this?

Of course I would never resort to such measures but this is just so frustrating!!

Not just because we haven't had 3 updates since the first one but Sony seemingly not interested or just turning the other cheek.   Surely somebody is accountable?

Just joined this forum now after viewing it religiously over the last few weeks for info on the UK unbranded 4.2.2 update.

Apologies to anyone glancing along the forum pages and seeing the latest response was only a few moments ago and delving into this in the hope I was going to be saying it's gone live!!

Unfortunately, still no update.

I completely share the frustrations of all other members without the update yet. Yes I know and I'm sure others have also been told that there are ways around it but in reality it really shouldn't be necessary to find ways around it.

All it simply needs is for Sony to come out and say that they are aware the update to the UK unbranded handsets has yet to be pushed out but we anticipate it will be released on X date.

Is that really so difficult? The generic scripted responses anyone receives are absolutely pointless in supporting the customer query.

This level of inadequate response is one of the reasons I tend to deviate so much between manufacturers, phone providers and operating systems. I've never bothered with Apple, not because I have anything against them, but you have to admire their comms, product rollout and updates. I'm sure it's not without it flaws some of the time but they make a bloody good fist of making sure the customer knows what is going on with product launches and system updates.

Sony launched the xperia z as a real contender for top dog in the android world. I think they successfully opened alot of eyes with this handset. They are however now successfully alienating alot of people like myself who bought into this handset.

A while back when I first had a HTC Hero phone the android update process was also completely devoid of any info. Back then it appeared the best way of getting the update was to make sure you have an unbranded handset. I have now noticed though that this has gradually changed and it seems the unbranded handsets are now the slowest to receive them. Vodafone and Three have uppped their game lately and appear pretty quick, O2 seems to lag behind a bit and EE, T Mobile and Orange also seem pretty slow. From scanning the various forums it seems only Vodafone, Three and O2.

I'm reading that the Xperia Ultra Z is likely to hit the UK in September with 4.2.2. I sincerely hope that we are not still waiting until then.

The only consolation at the moment is that I have noticed that this forum has many threads of issues with the 4.2.2 update. Not great for the people that have updated but is this why we haven't seen the update yet and Sony's silence is to not draw too much attention to it in the media as a damage limitation exercise?

The issue is no update since April and its the same genric resposne to every update that has been released since 434. We are not getting this update its as simple as that.

Does anyone know how we can raise this to the major tech sites like engadget, cnet, techradar etc and whether this would force a proper detailed response out of Sony if an article was run on it?

With the impending release of the ultra in the UK with 4.2.2 come September and potential 4.3 from Google soonish are Sony going to spout that the ultra will get 4.3 shortly after release as they did with this. Customers need to be aware of what they are getting. I can only think that there are issues since people have received the latest update as highlighted in these forums. I cannot see any other explanation of why unbranded handsets have missed out on the last few updates with no word from Sony. I think this thread now has one of the most views, most replies and yet absolutely no info from Sony at all. This is obviously impacting a large pool of owners so why is no customer rep or head of coming forward?

Something is fishy, have there been reports of any major "bug" in later versions? Have they stopped the rollout all together? Or is it just the unbranded UK devices that were left in the cold?

I'm getting tired of this, its been too long since Sony started tauting the latest firmware version's improvements in their Xperia Z "support" page.

I understand new features were added and the experience was improved, specially the camera's image quality and the support for 64Gb SD cards (with a decent filesystem).

Sony, can I please have my 4.2.2 update? Its an unbranded version, does it need certification by ALL carriers in UK? Please explain why we, the unbranded UK Xperia Z owners still don't have the latest firmware?

Over 10,000 views. No explanation from Sony and this issue refuses to go away.   Neither will we until Sony sorts this mess out.

Keep the pressure up people.  Still no update!

Was on Sony Care this afternoon, had a chat with one of the agents called Luke and said ""the 4.2.2 update is available to download for the UK Generic as we speak"

Checked SUS and PC Companion, still no update.:smileyangry:
