Hi all
Have a really random and strange issue on my 55xh9005 and it's really hard to explain but I'll try. Unfortunately I can't take a pic of the issue either as it's really random and is literally a quick flash.
So far I've noticed that the problem only seems to appear on terrestrial channels, don't really notice it when streaming netflix / prime / chromecast.
When watching TV, I get a random white flash appear on the screen. It literally lasts like a second or less and there is no pattern that I can see which makes it appear more or less. The only way I can describe it, is that it is a flash of white outline of everything on screen.
Not sure if anyone else has experienced this. I have done a full factory reset on the TV but the problem still exists.
Any suggestions would be great
Thanks

Hi jutler,
It's a known issue that should be fixed with the next update.
Meanwhile please change the picture mode to graphics or disable motion flow.
Cheers
Peter

I have just purchases a 65XH9005 and getting the same problem. Every 5 to 10 minutes a flash across the screen. This happens watching SD and HD TV broadcasts and playing video via BBC iplayer/Amazon Prime/etc. I have disconnected all external devices and the problem still happens. This TV is replacing a 6 month old XF9005 which had its screen damaged by a child. The XF9005 worked perfectly. The TV is one week old and has all the latest software updates.

If you have the latest software version already installed on your TV, maybe try clearing the cached data for the entire TV (under Settings - Device Preferences - Storage - Internal Shared Storage - Cached data) and see if that solves it?

Whilst not resolved, disabling motion flow as Peter_S suggested has massively improved it. Still get those random white flashes but now very infrequently compared to before

Yes. Confirmed. I turned off MotionFlow for a few days and it went away. I just turned it back to Auto and the flashing is happening again.

Same on my XH558196 (2020) as at 22/05/21. The suggested update to fix this hasn't happened yet, unless we have to search for it and download it manually.

I'm also getting these random white flashes on my 2020 XH558196 as at 22/05/21, so i'm not sure where this "fix" is, i've set my TV up for automatic updates...nothing. Where can I find this update that fixes these random white flashes?

Pretty sure this was fixed for 65XH9005 a few months ago. Motionflow is now set to Auto and no flashes. The only way I know to get updates is via the TV itself.

Relying on the TV to download updates probably means the update you received is very dated.
An internet search and a download from Sony to USB stick is much more current.
Although in this instance it may cause you problems that you don't currently experience.
