It is hard to say what may have caused an eventual gap on the phone, but if you have detected a gap which makes the battery vulnerable for external impact such as water or dust, I would suggest that you get in contact with you local support team in order to have the phone sent to an authorized service center for examination and repair.
If you have any questions regarding the service, such as routines, warranty and consumer laws, these type of questions are best answered by your local support team as well, as they vary between markets.
