I have tried to connect but I receive the same message each time. To try later. It is a brand new phone. Bought today so I don't think it is the phone.

If you received a new SIM card with the device, it may take some time for it to be activated. If you can't activate it on your own using your operators website, you can contact them directly and they should be able to do it remotely.
You can also try with a different SIM card in your device, if you can borrow one from a friend, colleague or family member.
