HELP!!!
I turned on my vaio today only to find out that my screen was not working. I put an object into the part of the vaio where if you close the lid the plastic contact should turn the screen off. when I released the plastic contact (which can be pushed down a bit) to a certain point, the screen would come on but flicker.
Next I pulgged the vaio into my TV and after a while the screen came on but now it is very dark. I rekon this is a hardware problem because when I restart the vaio in the bios mode the screen is always very dark. Any help would be appreciated.
Ps I have tried adjusting the brightness hotkey
THANKS
Hi,
You probably need a new inverter.
Thanks for the reply
Is this something I could do myself?
Probably, but it's quite fiddly as there's a small space to work with. If you do DIY then I guess you are confident.
*Don't try this at home if you're still in warranty kids*
Thank you so much mate.
I'm gonna give it a go seeing as I am good with these kind of things.
Do you know where I could get hold of the part for this particular model (16" screen)
Also do you know where I could download repair guides for this model of laptop.
I have been reading into this a bit and it seems that lots of people have had the same problem. It all seems to blow out after about a year.
THANKS AGAIN FOR YOUR INFO YOU HAVE SERIOUSLY SAVED ME SOME STRESS BECAUSE I THOUGHT MY COMPUTER WAS WASTED.
Nothing is wasted, eBay is your friend LOL
No seriously, I think you can get them at impact computers (I forget the link) and on vaio village (www.vaiovillage.com) there's some GRX gurus who probably have the service manuals.
