@cng

Unfortunately, you can't extend internal memory using SD cards at the moment, the option was disabled by a lot of manufacturers due to security issues.

applications are essentially stored on internal memory,. it is how android system intended it to be, if you want to transffer it to SD card, your device must be rooted. I suggest you go to XDA forum, for more details

I was just wondering could Sony or Google just send a patch update to fix the problem so the customers can  move the apps to SD card and to delete apps to free up internal space on the XA Ultra?

Im just learning to start doing some real research on the next phone that I buy and see what's the good and bad with the phone and what I'm looking for in a phone and is the company loyal to there customers.  ... I'm seeing people been complaining about the internal memory for a long time but nothing has been done since then.. Do companies really care about there customers or are they that big that they really don't care and not loyal to there customers .. Just questions in my head I really never really thought about and it's just time to start reading and finding out things like a lot yall up in here do on a regular..

1. Not Able To Move The Apps To SD Card To Relieve The Internal Memory..

2. Battery Life Does Not Last Long At All..

Other then that I love my XA Ultra📱

I use a bit of programming using my android smart phone and would like to save output to my external SD card so that it does not cost my internal memory and slows down operation of my phone. I had an Android 3 smart phone and that did not allow writing to external SD card. But I came to know that Android 6 will allow writing to External SD card and so I bought this Sony Xperia XA which runs on Android 6. But now I find out that you can write to External SD card only if you declare that as part of your Internal memory (where the app's folder is created). But if you do that you lose portability of that card and that is not desirable for me. So, all these reports that Android 6 will allow to write to External SD card is effectively a 'Fake News'.

I also read that it also depends on how the the manufacturers implement Android 6. So, if that is not a Fake News, I would request SONY to allow writing to the Portable External SD card.

I am considering configuring my Xperia XA Ultra for adoptable storage.  This is due to the 800 lb gorrilla in the room with this otherwise phhone, in that th internal storage is terrible.  I have used every piece of advice about making full use of my 200 GB SD card but the non-transferable stuff keeps me at between 96-98% capacity.  I have to perform cache clearances once or twice a day, just to perform app updates, and with the ever increasing size of apps, I have to sadly remove good apps that I really want.  There are also apps that I just cannot install because of size limitations.  Now I have read all the pros and cons of using adoptable storage, and my SD card is high quality and not the cheap crap that puts some people into adoptable nightrmares.  So, my questions are:

1.  I have 3 months left on my warranty.  Will this change to my system void the warranty in the same way that rooting it would?

2.  I'm hoping and assuming that Nougat will be available any time now.  Will system updates be denied in the same way that they would be for a rooted phone?

This means I will not buy another one of your devices, as this is the single most important feature a phone can have other than battery life. A phone without expandable storage, is a calculator.
