SD card problems after 10.3.1.A.0.244 update

Hello,

I've updated my Xperia Z to system software version 10.3.1.A.0.244. When I put my phone on, I get some error messages like 'USB stopped' and 'android.media stopped' or something like that. This will only ocure when my micro sd card is in the phone, the phone doesn't regonize the sd card. When I get it out of it, the phone will reboot.

When I reboot my phone without a sd card, then there are no problems at all. After that with the sd card in the phone again, it doesn't regonize the card.

The PC can read the SD card when it's not in the phone, i formatted it and put it back, still doesn't work. So i asume it's not the card but a software issue.

Does anyone have the same problem? It's kinda annoying :')

It is a lexmark card. But i found the problem. I formatted with Windows, but that isn't the right way to format. Googled other programs to format sd cards and found sd card formatter. And that did the trick. How simple can it be? Pff

Next time with a system update I will remove the sd card first, just to be sure.

Thanks for the help anyway.

Hello Nickdhnick,

I suggest you use the repair function from Sony PC Companion, as it may be a corrupted file from the firmware update.

WARNING: THE FOLLOWING STEPS WILL FORMAT YOUR DATA. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A COPY OF YOUR FILES ON YOUR COMPUTER OR SOMEWHERE ELSE.

Do this without having your phone connected to the PC:
1 - Open PC Companion
2 - Go to Support Zone
3 - Click Phone/Tablet Software Update
4 - Click repair my phone/tablet

5 - Read the instructions. If you agree, click Next.

6 - Read the following instructions. If you still agree, check the box and click Next.
7 - Now PC Companion will prepare your computer to your phone repair. This may take several minutes.
8 - After this, several phones/tablets will appear. Select Xperia Z (your phone)
9 - Follow the steps to correctly connect your phone to the PC.
10 - Now you just have to wait until it finishes.

11 - After it finished, you can disconnect your phone and turn it on.

If it worked for you, congratulations! You now have a sucessfully repaired phone.
Hope I helped you, have a great day!

- Augusto

Are you able to test another card in the phone?
