HSPA+ not working with Xperia Z C6602

I purchased the C6602 model mainly to go with T-Mobile HSPA+ but it doesn't seem to work properly. Data speed is extremely slow (50Kbps/100Kbps download/upload) and I only see the letter "E" (for Edge?) instead of H for HSPA on my signal bars.

I've tried all kinds of different APNs but nothing changed. I also tried my sim card on my friend's iphone 4S and it worked perfectly fine with 4Mbps/1.5Mbps download/upload, so the problem must be from the Xperia Z.

Anyone knows how to fix this?

Thanks.

that's a total bummer, here are the lists

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_States_mobile_virtual_network_operators

it'll be easier if you sell the phone and get another Xperia Z that it is compatible with Tmobile's 3G, H+ (C6603)

did they tell you which frequencies are required?

That is absolutely not true. I just bought the C6602 off of Ebay and have been using it for a little over a week now. I haven't gotten EDGE once, only H+.

When I bought my phone I couldn't connect to data at all. I went under Xperia in Settings and clicked on Internet settings. Then clicked Accept. That's what worked for me without having to change any other settings.

Try doing a factory reset then follow the steps above and see if that fares better for you. If you don't get EDGE on any other phone while in the same area, then the XZ shouldn't get it either.

The C6603 is not the proper model to use with T-Mobile. The OP will get worse results. The C6602 is the correct model.

Does any1 have any solution to this? How about OP? how did you resolve this matter?

I did exactly as thepanttherlady suggested but no thing changed. I'm still getting Edge all the time. And I know my area (63121) is pretty good with T-mobile coverage since I tried my sim on another friend's iphone 4S and HSPA works just fine.

Guess I'll just switch back to the 1500 talk + text + 30MB data then. What's the point of using data if they're too slow...

I'm starting to think that you have a faulty unit, borrow an ATT sim card and test it.

I was thinking the same until I had a live chat with a Sony Rep and he confirmed that model C6602 won't be able to pick up HSPA from T-Mobile since T-Mobile was using a combination signal of LTE and HSPA... Now I'm confused lol. Neutral_Face

I 100% believed you. It's just that I don't really know what to do now. I contacted Newegg for replacement and they suggeted me to contact Sony and now that Sony said C6602 would only get Edge on T-Mobile... Thinking_Face
